This hand built porcelain bird is designed to grace your tree, but others like him have been known maintain residence in the same home year round. Made of unglazed porcelain with a light wash of cobalt, it hangs from a white ribbon that extends all the way through the body of the bird. The artist uses large moist sheets of porcelain to form one-of-a-kind birds. Hand construction is done much like sewing: shapes are cut out and pieced together, creating dimension from flat surfaces.
